The song was voted #3 in 2000 by VH1 on their list of the 100 Greatest Rock Songs.[1] It was the most requested song on FM radio stations in the United States in the 1970s, despite never having been released as a single there.[2] In November 2007, through download sales promoting Led Zeppelin’s Mothership release, “Stairway to Heaven” hit #37 on the UK Singles Chart.[3]

sooo!?!?!? this song isnt LITERALLY about religion and heaven, it uses it
for a metaphor/imagery like any other poem/literature would. Also Highway
to Hell by ACDC which many christians bashed because they seriously thought
ACDC were satanists but people are sooooo retarded to get that this is just
metaphor and imagery in creative literature. None of these songs literally
mean religious terms unless they are a Christian gospel band
For Example: When someone says something like “gosh, this weather is Hell”,
they dont literally mean its hell, they mean the weather is very hot. This
is basic English class material most people here fail to realize

Guns N’ Roses, etc… modern bands and singers are ruining music. They talk
about nothing just to get more cash. The only modern band i appreciate is
Arctic Monkeys but they cannot rivalize with these :)

Apparently George Harrison told Jimmy Page in 1971 that he should write a
ballad. So he did, and it became Stairway to Heaven. Jimmy even dedicated
the song ( somewhat ) to George because he uses some of the same chords in
the intro as “Something” by the Beatles…

This isn’t religious school guys. Freedom of religion. Who cares if your an
Aethiest or a Christian. People can believe what they want to.
I notice on every video of an older song, people have to rag on modern
music, as if all modern music is the same. Get your heads out of your
asses. Maybe if you didn’t generalize all music today, and actually took
the time to uncover talented artists (who aren’t even that underground),
then maybe we’d make these talented artists more popular by supporting
their work, thus populating the radio stations with decent songs instead of
Bieber and Nicki Minaj. People want to bitch and moan but don’t want to
help lend recognition to those who deserve it.
And PS to all these teenagers who brag about listening to older music–WE
FUCKING GET IT. So like popular songs from the 70’s and 80’s, do you want a

The whole song is great, but when Jimmy wrote that solo he must have
realised he had just touched the sun. The only two guitarists ever as great

Although I’m atheist, I do like Christian songs! ^^ I have SOME religious
beliefs, but, to me, it doesn’t really count…this song is beautiful, but
I’m not a big fan of the voice…but Christian songs can BE pretty, or fun,
or, whatever, but some Christian songs allows atheists to give their own
view, for example, “Hero”, by Skillet! ^^ While others don’t give a choice,
but still can be good, like this song! (I admitted I’m atheist, let the
haters roar! xD)
