Terry, have you seen the film, Beware Mr. Baker? It’s a quasi biopic about
drummer Ginger Baker. Anyway, in the movie, Ginger says about Bonham, “He
couldn’t swing a sack of shit”. That thought came to mind when you
mentioned the part of Ramble On where it kinda goes for a “swing” feel.
Again Terry outstanding tutorial! I too thought the extra bass note was
there all this time but I guess it really isnt- thanx man and keep up the
good work! Good new years advice as well and Happy new year!
Great as usual Terry, I thought those extra bass notes were there too.
Thanks for another great video and have a happy new year Terry! First
YouTube video I watched in 2015!
Hi Terry, thanks for another cool vid. but question: Sounds like quite a
few ghost notes on the snare in this one to me. Sort of Bonzo on Whole
lotta stylee, don’t you think?
That part where the drums come in and Bonzo is just playing the bass drum.
That solo bass drum part has to be the funkiest drum part ever played in
the history of music.
BTW, I see you’re rockin’ a new kit in this video. Is that an APK?
Also T how bout some Bonzoleum Tshirt’s ? Comes with a Terry Keating CD
with purchase? Lol… Include the price of the CD in with the Tees? We
BONZOLEUM BROTHER’S AND SISTERS NEED TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT AND LOVE…just a
thought from your E-learning student Nathan…PS I live in the Chicago land
suburbs and would like real in person lessons if possible?… Again Thanks
.
Man your videos are addicting! Bonham is my favorite drummer. You make
playing zep look easy when really it takes soooooo much practice. I
practice 1 hr a day or more if wife allows it lol. Keep videos coming.
Wow. And I thought that extra note was in there all along. I think people
tend to under estimate Bonham’s minimalism-gotta take that in context!
Just another example of the spaces between the notes being just as
important as the notes themselves. Brilliant once again!
Thanks!……….For some strange reason, I’ve been thinking about
purchasing a Premier set as of late…; )
Thanks for another great video, Terry. And no, you are not alone. I spent
decades thinking there was bass drum on all the e’s in the chorus. It
wasn’t until your video, and I went and played the new LZII remaster on
headphones that I noticed there’s no bass drum there. 🙂 And what’s more
embarrassing is that it’s pretty obvious there’s no bass drum there,
either. Oh well. I tend to think it’s a combination of the ghost notes on
the snare, something that frequently seems like it’s adding extra super
light kick hits in Bonham’s parts and possibly some echo on the drums.
Kind of random, I know, but what do you think about Queens of the Stone
Age, Terry? Know much about them? Listen to them? Just curious. They’ve had
some pretty awesome drummers. Check out thier albums some time if you
haven’t, they’re on Youtube, all but one. I think you’d like them the more
you dig deeper. Thanks for all the videos, too.
Happy New Year! Love your John Bonham tutorial videos. I too was at that
Who show at Alpine Valley. Got really drunk there, lol. Jason Bonham has a
tribute band to his father called JBLZE. His lead singer & my friend, James
Dylan, used to sing in the YouTube sensation Virtual Zeppelin. That’s where
Jason found him. James does not have the golden locks but sure has the
golden pipes like Robert. He can draw too, check out jamesdylanofficial.com
for his Zep art. I’ve seen JBLZE 6 times. Always a great show. Peace.
Can you do a video on The Rover?
Words cannot define how fawesome your examples are! Thanks-a-million
bonzoleum :)
Good advice at the end with the red light, Terry.. Please keep rambling on
kind sir.
Can you or have you done a video on Down by the seaside from Physical
Graffiti?
apparantly the click track is bonham hitting a guitar case with his hands
dude your awesome. THANK YOU. I’m recording this for my drummer friend.
Thank you alot

You ever use drummer ear click track to keep good timing

I like your videos not only because you’re good with lessons or playing,
but ’cause you make good anallysis of the songs! Just a great job.
I think I remember JoeDrums hitting a throne seat with sticks. That sounds
close also.

I have learned so much from you to improve my drumming skills for BONZO
drumming
Bonham used to play the click with wood tip sticks on the wood collar of
his bass drum..No wait thats me , thats how I play it
My head hurts…… Are you a HS teacher?
Always go with the tangents, Terry! That’s why we come back and stay!
I fucking love this channel. Happy New Years! :)
I thought ramble on was one of zeppelin’s few multitracks…
