Nigel Fortune says:

Bonzo was not ‘picked up from his hotel room’ for the last rehearsal. He
was picked up by a chauffeur from his home in Hyde, Worcestershire.

Duff Gordon says:

Fact, Bonzo worshiped what Carmen Appice taught him with Appice claiming I
didn’t even know I did the things he said I taught him until I got home and
listened to the parts on the Lp’s . Bonham was beside himself joy meeting
Appice. They are so full of themselves that they didn’t want a different
drummer, implying not even a real drummer like Appice who was 2X the
drummer that Bonham was when he was drunk right? Like the great Jim
Morrison who was a drunk live was 1/2 the singer as Mark Lindsay of the
Raiders, and don’t you dare put down ML’s talent. . I am not judging those
two men because they were self medicating to face the pressure of the
industry. BUT, i’ll turn this thing around and ask myself if I was a huge
percussion talent, and they asked me I would say no, because no Satanist
like Page is going to give me a special occultist name as if he is Christ
with his disciples. Can you imagine that devil loving ego? I want to know
if Bonham went more downhill as Page started his occult propaganda, as he
seemed “normal” and possibly was effected by all the voodoo.I mean that
sincerely. No wonder he wanted to get home and away from Page! Also, I will
not let you forget Randy “California” and the many musically talented
artists that state that Randy’s Spirit tune (the beginning) was ripped off
to kick off and inspire Stairway to Heaven, also that Randy was chosen by
Hendrix to join him in England which RC’s parents nixing it due to his
age- Hendrix was quoted in youtube (I cannot be certain) as quoted as
stating that LZ were a thieving group all along and Page was baggage. So
some 45 years ago I first starting hearing about the group that made a
“deal with devil” the same one that he tempted Christ after 40 days of
fasting in the desert that “all my kingdoms will be yours if you bow your
knee to me” with Jesus basically saying “hit the road” you fraud. Now the
Scriptures call Lucifer “a thief” . Than there is the irony that the
innocent, namely Randy, displays the “highest love that a man can give,
which is to give your life for another”JC. 30 AD, sees his son fighting in
a California riptide, manages to throw his son to safer waters while he
himself disappears in the surf. I got into all of this because I was
watching Heart honoring those fine upstanding men at the Kennedy center,
wearing their bow ties, and looking like sir lawrence olivier. It was so
wonderful!! Heart climbed that stairway to Babel and I noticed the
ritualistic symbols beaming against the background, did an image search and
who comes up but Jimmy Page, not trying to hide the darkness but inviting
others into the Occult. I tell you all that I would have chosen to be that
gentle soul, randy C. than Jimmy Page. I would rather not be born than to
have led his life, “For light has come into the world but men preferred the
DARKNESS. Mr. Page, it is not too late, come to the light so your deeds
will be exposed and forgiven. Finally, we have to stop picking “the
greatest at different old savant is instruments” for we should all know by
30 or so, that there is always someone better, some 5 year old savant with
perfect beat and sensibilities is banging the drums but he may never be
known. The higher you are the greater the fall. Tiger Woods shooting 82,
watching the one some called the greatest, namely Gary Moore rip, playing
bloated like Bonham, with none of his pals, and as with Elvis no
intervention. Friends don’t let friends play half dead, nor let a man brand
you with an occult symbol.

Im Devy says:

R.I.P. The greatest drummer in history.

waqqodonkey says:

tremendous talent that left us WAY too early !!

jmaune1419 says:

Keep drumming in the great gig in the sky along with Keith Moon, take it
easy big-guy

PearlJammer07 says:

John Bonham was a monster on the drums. I would say one of the top ten
players in the world. He could pound those drums like no one elses
business. Its sad that he died so young.

Keith Richards liver says:

Bonzo was really good. I just wish LZ wouldn’t have stolen most the music
they created.

Leprechaun421 says:

When u sleep drunk 30% chance u can have a heartattack/liver failure.my
buddy passed away accidently while sleeping drunk. He was 26 yrs old. Heart
failure. Rip Victor. And RIP Bonzo

JohnBindon says:

RIP: Bonzo ! John Henry Bonham was clearly the God of Rock and Roll (throw
metal, hard rock in there – it’s all rock and roll) – bar none. You just
have to listen to multiple drum solos of his from 1970, 71, 72, 73, 75,
particularly 1977 – and his fills were just getting insanely intricate in
1977, 79 & 80. He was progressively getting better !

Shaun says:

felt like I lost a family member really…being 16, my heroes were bands,
Zep in particular…I can still feel the pain if I dwell on it.

Andrew Warren says:

If cell phones were around back in the 70’s. He would have gotten one and
call his family every single day.

AmongTheRestless says:

Saying Bonham wasn’t one of the most talented musicians that ever lived
because he wasn’t “technical enough” is like trying to say that Jimi
Hendrix sucked because he couldn’t sweep pick. Any Asian and most white
people can copy anything that is recorded by some degree, but nobody will
ever be able to play a song exactly the way Bonzo did. It’s the passion,
his soul, and his mind that wrote all these amazing songs we still enjoy 30
years later. It is uniquely him, and he is undoubtedly one of the greatest
musicians that have ever lived. End of story.

rexxcarz says:

34 years later, it affects more than just Robert, Jimmy and Jonesy. It
affects about a zillion other folks, too. Rest In Peace, Bonzo. Rock On.

crankin64 says:

The man could hit the skins. Good working men stock……rock on!

Howard Smith says:

Even 30 something years later he is still rated as the best off beat
percussionists to walk this planet ! ~RIP~BONZO~

Leprechaun421 says:

In Reality..if Zepp said he drank 4screwdrivers on the way to the studio
and then continued drinking while recording. He accidently died by
suffocation bye vomit.

Rob Brighton says:

I think it’s a real stretch to say that “Carmine Appice could have done the
gig”. There was, and never will be, a “replacement” for Bonzo. Period. End
of ridiculously stupid discussion. The best drummers in the world, who may
be vastly more technically versed, can’t play like he did. The feel was
uniquely Bonham, and that’s why he is so highly respected by even the most
virtuosic drummers. He inspired me to start playing drums 30 years ago and
remains an inspiration to this day. In fact, trying to play like Bonham
(and failing) led me to find my own unique style.

S Murphy says:

Sounds like he died of loneliness.

Strings410 says:

@ 5:02 Robert totally trippin’ his face off. Look at his dilated pupils.

divanola says:

shortly before their deaths i had the distinct pleasure to drink with and
chat with Bonzo and Moonie upstairs Over the Rainbow…..for whatever
reasons they were both in L.A. and when the Beatles “I saw her standing
there” came on the juke we all sang in harmony( except we sang “i’ll never
dance with your mother)….at that point( i was a drummer at that time) i
said”looks like the drummers have taken over up here” and Moonie sez”we’ve
always been in charge, we just don’t let on”…..LOL….just so sad losing
those two

Farah Adaci says:

I hope people realise soon that alcoholism is a symptom for underlying
issues and aren’t so quick to judge.

Josias Teodoro Travassos Junior Junior says:

o melhor batersta de todos os tempos sem Dúvida

joan Jones says:

40 shots of vodka in one day????? He was a train wreck waiting to happen.

The Rogues of New Orleans says:

All of us get lost in the gutter, dreamers learn to look at the stars.

minfo2000 says:

BONZO WAS THE UNHERALDED KEY TO THE OBVIOUS TALENT OF JIMMY PAGE. THEY
COULD NEVER HAVE CARRIED ON, MUCH LIKE THE WHO , WHO SUCKED AFTER THE DEATH
OF KEITH MOON BUT TOURED FOR THE MONEY WAY TOO LONG. CM.

Peter White says:

Rest in Peace John. You will always be remembered.

Byron Gordon says:

Such a good father? Quadruple screwdrivers? And he drank himself to death
leaving his kids without a father.

Thalia Jones says:

Haha cool I’m crying now :-)

marctruthseeker says:

You guys know jp sold his soul and very much into the occult even rp has
said while at Jimmy house he felt the demonic spirits and felt sick
whenever he was there

Lorna Sanderson says:

So all of you that want led to get back together this is your answer.
Unless they all are dead then nope!

ilililhy1 says:

Will anyone ever learn from others that booze and alcohol, KILLS.

Jeremy Rapp says:

No Led In Our Zeppelin John Bonham

minfo2000 says:

THANK GOD THEY DID NOT GO FOR THE MONEY LIKE THE WHO WITHOUT KEITH MOON AND
RUIN THEIR LEGACY

Rose Reichert says:

So sad in so many ways. One can only dream about what they would have
created as a group if he had not died.

enchantrand-esque says:

:(

The Rogues of New Orleans says:

Shine on you crazy Toulouse

Lerxstification says:

choking on his own vomit

Wendy Creaney says:

Rock history , live with it!!!!!

Don’t post much , because of all the negative replies you get , if you
don’t like then please sod off!!!! What the hell are you doing on here
watching this!!!!!

komethead says:

You really couldn’t ask for a better Rock Drummer.

Frank Carpi says:

What a sad story of a group of guys who loved each other and had such
amazing chemistry that the reaction just couldn’t occur properly without
all 4 of the reagents. I hated the loss of all the great musicians that
died so young while I was growing up listening to them. I would never have
missed them at the Madison Square Garden in 1980, I think, if I knew it
would be the last time they would play together in NYC. Bonham, Moon,
Morrison, Joplin, Hendrix Lynyrd Skynyrd…What a bunch of tragic young
lost lives.

Jon Applegate says:

The Who should have quit it when Keith died as well. But they always had
the “show must go on” mentality.

Ke Zhou says:

Most don’t pick their time and place to get off the
merry-go-round……..on the other hand……some do. I can’t judge a
persons reasons for doing what they do or did because I never occupied
their body, nor their individual circumstances. I can only express my sense
of loss.

Damoskinos says:

John Bonham did have a great talent and opportunity, then chose to throw it
all away with alchol & drugs
Move on, it was his choice to end it all……what a selfish bastard

Jeffrey Wertz says:

It took a very big toll an all of Led Zep’s fans!

MSuraev says:

Too much cocaine?

Nieve Strega says:

damn :((( wish I hadn’t watched this, I rarely follow what rock stars do –
I love the music the rest is only of passing interest but sometimes a story
hits you hard. I agree with other comments here – a man drinking like that
is because he was lonely and not with the only woman he really loved –
insane :(

Paul O'Reilly says:

His drumming held the music together no one could do it like him! so sad!

Giovani22 says:

I thought Bonham only drank on tour a lot because he hated being away from
his family for so long , but he died during rehearsals back at home which
tells me he was a plain drunk . This tragedy was bound to happen .

Michael Perry says:

Alcoholics are genuinely beautiful people who seek virtually unattainable
relief from very ugly sources in very ugly places – bringing the ugliness
on themselves, becoming ugliness incarnate. Morality is irrelevant. It’s
purely a health matter Bonzo and others don’t come back from. It’s
heartbreaking, but very real – and wasteful. Bonzo is fine now, but in the
world there is a big hole among others this illness leaves.
