Led Zeppelin John Paul Jones Interview – Opera Update & 2014 Reunion?

Comments

mvandeven says:

that handler standing behind jones… guy looks like his head is about to
explode if he doesn’t get jones outta there.

Karan Abrol says:

lol the interviewer sounds so pissed when he says “thanks a lot” as though
Led Zeppelin members dont have anything better to do than sit and wait for
a reunion

alex ciardi says:

what a wonderful musician..w led zeppelin

Lil Lepp says:

Gosh Jonesy brush your teeth!

Brandonwoundpickups says:

I look at it this way. Right after Bonham passed, they felt their chances
of regaining momentum like the mid 70’s was shot as Led Zeppelin. The
reunions were appropriate and I loved them. I would pay whatever it took to
see these guys live but I only want to see them the right way being all of
them wanting to be on stage like O2. It’s funny, Page set himself up
keeping the original recordings to “Remaster” them years later to make more
multi millions on the super deluxe box sets alone. Just on the first 3
albums. Page doesn’t ever need to walk out of his mansion again. ha ha.

gert-jan ermelo says:

the wholeproblem about a led zep reunion is that after thetremendous O2 gig
back in dec 2007 they had to do another 2 nights in london and 2 shows in
new york
tomake it anfitting end, evenbacj then page said , it shoukd have a follow
up otherwise weshouldn,t let the spirit out of the bottle, but it was
“percy”who didn,t want a whole tour, understandable considering age and
voice, but with 20.000.000 tickets online m, they should have done
something like the cream as i said before a few shows in london and new york
page dec 2012 it,s five years now and that a lot of time!

jan-michael Mavar says:

Thats tite amber///sing it again…

Mario hernandez says:

It wouldn’t have killed them to do like 5 shows off the success of the o2,
but it seems to me like there are some massive egos in that band, and page
won’t even do a solo tour. Fuck me running.

Mario hernandez says:

So that would be a no. I don’t see it ever happening personally. They were
getting old six years ago and they’re older now. Then.again, I didn’t think
bowie would release a new album.

vk2afl says:

Seen Celebration Day? Have any taste? 😀

Drachot says:

Well said, he’d make way more people happy by doing a reunion world tour.

Mo Jo says:

Gentleman.

Amy McCann says:

Classy guy!

Crude oil Trading room says:

A true example of how men should behave. An English gentlemen.

mjt11860 says:

true, but y retire from something if it still brings so much personal
satisfaction?

cdga101 says:

he’d make a great ventriloquist..

Johnny Appleseed says:

It makes me happy that that makes you mad.

Keegan Bailey says:

Does that mean that no reunion will take place? He said he had plenty of
opera…

zepbigfoot bearcove says:

Zeps music was fueled by youth., I rather prefer to remember them as they
were as opposed to whole lotta love being dropped down to the key of C.
They are peerless so theres nothing to prove. Even the best of us turn into
crusty old farts at some point.

KAgilly says:

Mr. Jones: I’m sure your opera will be a fulfilling and successful
accomplishment but put the damned thing off for a year and have some fun
with Led Zeppelin.

Paneeks1960 says:

Why is it so important to this interviewer to ask about the reformation of
the Blimp? He did not do a bad job with the interview until he asked that
question. You would think he would be smart and know that this is the last
question they want to answer.

mjmroz24 says:

I’ve got mixed feelings on a reunion. Loved ‘Celebration Day’ but that was
a one-off. While the fan in me would love to see them play again, the
skeptic in me remembers how it went over when The Who played at the Super
Bowl. I don’t want to see Zep end up like that.

mjmroz24 says:

He said “full of opera for me at the moment…” To say “at the moment”
suggests to me he could still be persuaded.

Martin S says:

No one spends every minute of an entire year on a freaking opera. Zep can
find time to do a limited tour. What, you can’t do 12 freaking dates??

marshhen says:

If you are such fans, and really admire these three people, why not let
them alone to do the projects they prefer doing. It was a long time ago. We
have the albums and the concert footage. So he is more interested in
working on a Strindberg opera than retreading the same old musical ground,
he is a musician, why begrudge him an artistic life. They don’t need to be
stuck in the 70’s. I respect them more for it.

Leslie Chung says:

He owes you something? You have an incredible sense of entitlement.

Kr Ling says:

JPJ has contributed so much to music & culture, with his session work in
the 60s,his time in Zeppelin obviously and hes done so much in the past 30
odd years since they split that ppl are’nt so aware of. Funny thing is if
you saw him on the street, you would’nt look twice cos he just looks like
an average bloke. Also, as well as being immensely talented and underrated,
hes also a really nice geezer. Even during Zeps crazy days in the 70s, he
was the only decent person in the band.

mjt11860 says:

those of u not wanting to see a reunion doing the same old stuff, just
remember, jimmy said he has composed some music that will “blow u away” &
was waiting to gather the right musicians. would love to see them all
together just to hear the new material.

Johnny Appleseed says:

Jimmy has been telling ‘us’ that for the last decade. I would think that
he’s been too busy working on the box sets to even be thinking about
‘gathering the right musicians.’ In any event, that’s just Jimmy, he seems
to always want to do so much but by the end of the day he can only do so
much. If I were him, I’d retire and enjoy my family for a while, after all
he’s nearly 70.

Riley Nagle says:

2007??????????????/ what you talkin bout boy?

amber west says:

meat your new challenge, I have been a fan for many years, kept many a
person cool, just flip me open and listen to the wind blow through my
reeds…….I think I can I sing I can I can, can me and put me on a sshhhh
elf, yours I am

amber west says:

teach me how and I will bow to you as you sit there in the stair well
chair…..with your little flip open glasses……sea me of love

Tom Lambertson says:

I like Jonesy but Robert and Jimmy have played for years without of him
before, so we all must wait and see what happens.

todd defrederico says:

you chief are in the minority by a country mile…….do you recall the ’07
gig ? of any worthwhile reunions in the past 20yrs these Zep’ is in the
best shape to pull it off and you know they want to just some egos in the
way…….anyhow would love to see them and it might happen…….opera?
give me a break man……so grab you balls , remove your skirt and if
you’re any kind of diehard fan fuck off with the opera

germanRael says:

Thank You ! t.

beatlesloversprims says:

It’s weird to hear a great musician who have been playing since the 60s say
“2014” it sounds very futuristic coming from a cool musician

Freddy Cellophane says:

The cup is raised, the toast is made yet again.

victoria tarala says:

In 2007 was a magnificent concert, I wish never see something like that at
least once .

Mo Jo says:

Here is a guy who has every reason to be cocky yet is a gentlemen instead.

marcelo frey says:

we need!

StoneBoneAndFire says:

Comebacks never have the magic of a group’s heyday, I really hope zeppelin
don’t reunite, it will be just another old geezers dressed in black playing
music by numbers hits from long ago.

JordanWallac3 says:

brb, gonna cry.

JohnDaWhale2 says:

he reminds me so much of my dad

Gary Dean Jr. says:

I don’t want to see a reunion from them. The band is dead. Does that mean I
don’t like them? No, I have all of their albums and they’re my favorite
band, but Zep was a power of four, not three. They all needed each other.
With that said, I can’t wait to see Jonesy’s opera.

nick Siperaka says:

Oh no please…

Johnny Appleseed says:

Sure, heck the last opera you threw together took what, a week and a half?
And a simple ‘little’ tour of a mere twelve dates, well heck 12 is less
than 14 so it should only take two weeks to throw that little tour
together, right? So John Paul Jones still has at least 49.5 weeks free in
2014, he owes us something from each and every one of those weeks, right?
Get with it man.

Chris Koles says:

What a gentleman, good for you John paul, I hope your opera is everything
you hope it could be. Cheers mate!

ikeknights says:

He doesn’t give a straight answer because he honestly doesn’t know. He and
Page have subtly made it known they are up for a reunion tour, but it’s
Robert Plant who seems to forever be on the fence.`
