Achilles Last Stand by Led Zeppelin
All rights go to Led Zeppelin. This is their song, not mine, and it is one of their best in my opinion.

Of course, all their songs are great. 🙂
Thought I would share this song with you, because it is one of my favorite songs, and I love it.

IronOrePickaxe says:

What I find amazing about this track is how it is 10 minutes, but doesn’t
seem slow. In fact, i could have this song much longer than this. It never
loses it’s speed, it just keeps going.

If I was named achilles, I would happily have this as my Theme.

Led. Fucking. Zeppelin.

Kevin P says:

Why do I-IV get all the praise? This is their best track ever!

Jimmy says:

What kind of shit-eating mongoloid gives this a thumbs down?
Oh wait, they’re shit-eating mongoloids.

This is certainly one of their best songs, maybe better than Stairway to
Heaven.

Strings410 says:

Why the fuck doesn’t this song ever get airplay? It’s one the best songs
they wrote. I hear Stairway 3 times a day on the radio, but never this one.

Peter Maher says:

Lyrics—“Achilles’ Last Stand”

It was an April morning when they told us we should go
As I turn to you, you smiled at me
How could we say no?

With all the fun to have, to live the dreams we always had
Oh, the songs to sing, when we at last return again

Sending off a glancing kiss, to those who claim they know
Below the streets that steam and hiss,
The devil’s in his hole

Oh to sail away, To sandy lands and other days
Oh to touch the dream, Hides inside and never seen.

Into the sun the south the north, at last the birds have flown
The shackles of commitment fell, In pieces on the ground

Oh to ride the wind, To tread the air above the din
Oh to laugh aloud, Dancing as we fought the crowd

To seek the man whose pointing hand, The giant step unfolds
With guidance from the curving path, That churns up into stone

If one bell should ring, in celebration for a king
So fast the heart should beat, As proud the head with heavy feet.

Days went by when you and I, bathed in eternal summers glow
As far away and distant, Our mutual child did grow

Oh the sweet refrain, Soothes the soul and calms the pain
Oh Albion remains, sleeping now to rise again

Wandering & wandering, What place to rest the search
The mighty arms of Atlas, Hold the heavens from the earth

The mighty arms of Atlas, Hold the heavens from the earth
From the earth…

I know the way, know the way, know the way, know the way [X2]

Oh the mighty arms of Atlas, Hold the heavens from the earth.

Six decent songs, 8 very long albums, yes indeed I am quite serious. To
put it into some perspective Led Zep IV (Zoso)
came out when I was in High School. I was not in the least like most of
the well, “lunkheads” at my school who thought that Zep Lepplen was the all
to end all. I prefered a bit better music such as Jimi Hendrix, The Doors,
The Jefferson Airplane,
The Velvet Underground/Lou Reed during that time period. Oh yes and John
Lennon’s songs he put out during his “lost years”. And how could I forget
about Bob Dylan and Blood on the Tracks. And others. It always seemed to
me that Led Zeppelin and their “music” catered to and drew in the pimply
faced 15 year old males with their testosterone levels far to high and
showed it by either bullying others around or fighting. I mean even
Clapton has always been a gentleman but it’s obvious he never cared for
what Led Zeppelin did with the type of music they, meaning Led Zeppelin,
Cream/Blind Faith/Derek and the Dominos for Clapton and The Jeff Beck
Group/Beck Ola for Jeff Beck. And all the Hendrix records.
The music that Clapton was talking about was the old American Blues and
what Zeppelin did with that and how they were famous at “borrowing” old
blues songs and not giving the credit to the person who wrote it thus
screwing some poor old man now out of his royalties. On the other hand Eric
Clapton made it *his* job to go track down the men and women who wrote
songs he covered and if necessary he would personally take their royalty
checks and give them to the person/s.
Coincidence just now. Had my brain stuck on the world “Royalty” and was
looking on google and there is an article on their
about Led Zeppelin as being one of the biggest song thieves in rock and
roll history. And now they are up for an award for
songwriting. Whew…what a joke if it wasn’t so sickening. Same thing
with Madonna, she never wrote a song in her life and she got the
songwriting award. Life is so full of irony and strange happenings that
you don’t need to make them up.
HA!

Mat Digs says:

Don’t get me wrong Bonham was a great drummer but i cant compare him to
Neil Peart.
Peart just has a unique characteristic about him that i cannot put my
finger on but they are the 2 best drummers on earth but i favour Peart.

Daniel Lewis-carter says:

7:25 I can think of a lot of pithy, trite ways of describing the drumming
on this, trains, machine guns, the pounding hearts of titans locked deep in
the earth, but none of them work. The only way to describe the drumming on
this is to say “John Henry Bonham”.

SolidShark100 says:

Trolls coming to this video to say “led zeppelin stole this song oh my god
I hate them”. If you have a problem go and listen to your music because
your opinion obviously counts more than others. There are many great bands
but you don’t need to always brag how one is better than another. If you
don’t like Led Zeppelin don’t comment on a Led Zeppelin song. Peace. And
respect to you Led Zeppelin fans.

One can almost relate to the cosmic nature of the song, half way through I
could listen to the lap and gurgle of a giant river winding it’s way
through nooks and crannies of a mountain range. Every note and beat is
delivered with such forthrightness that it seems that it ought to be there
and nowhere else, on a Zeppelin album.

Love this song. Reminds me of a Grateful Dead song. Zep is epic. If you
