@simonsbuddy Whaaaa? Anyway, I’ve already posted a play-along demo.

Baltazar Crump says:

That’s the perfect shirt for the song

PAULB7743 says:

Just the Les Paul into the Marshall ? I have a question about another Zep
song you did , the Rover . About 32 or so seconds into you playing – when
the melody – I guess it is starts – everything going on between the 2nd and
4th frets – do you by any chance have or know the tabs for that part ? I’ve
been trying it – but something’s off . Great cover of that and Black Dog ,
by the way ! Thanks for all of your videos – keep rockin !

privettricker says:

@evangelionale I guess I’d have to choose which guitar part to do. Maybe a
live version with just one guitar.

winston1234 says:

@slasherzzz1964 Don’t feel bad! This is from GC website: “In Zeppelin’s
early days, Page relied heavily on a three-pickup 1960 Les Paul Custom
“Black Beauty” with a Bigsby tailpiece. Unfortunately, the guitar was
stolen in 1970 at an airport and never recovered. Page has always felt that
that particular guitar was “the one that got away.”

massif20022000 says:

Decide for yourself at 1:12, I use my third finger using a “finger roll”,
that is, you fret the note on the 4th string 7th fret a little lower on the
meat of your finger than you normally would and then you roll off of that
string onto the 5th string 7th fret with the top part of your third finger.
Your finger actually presses down on both strings when you pick the 4th
string 7th fret and then rolls off the 4th string onto the 5th string 7th
fret as you pick the 5th string.

llortatonmai says:

@massif20022000 i dont know what Led Zeppelin YOU’VE been listening to but
the Led Zeppelin that I know definitley DOES use vibrato! you just may not
have heard it but it’s there i can assure you

Rodri Reviglio says:

6:26.. first time E > G second time E > F# 🙂

Rick Schuster says:

Thanks so much! By far the clearest and easiest Black Dog lesson on YouTube

privettricker says:

Jimmy played around with tape speeds a lot, so it wouldn’t surprise me if
that’s the culprit here. It does have a little bit of a slowed sound,
especially Bonzo’s cymbals.

TheHammyGang says:

I thought he did at 0:40

privettricker says:

On your channel, you’ve posted a couple of 6-year-olds doing cheerleading.
I don’t think my channel is for you.

tharleyify says:

Have you seen Celebration Day? He plays like you (ahem) standard tuning A
but it’s in the key of G when you try to play along, maybe Percy’s voice
cant get up there anymore.

Will Thiel says:

Excellent lesson! Thank You!!!

ipicac says:

Best lesson on the internet. Period.

tharleyify says:

I’m just starting to get in to this tuning thang, I’ve just done your
“Start me up” & I’m pointing my tele & looking real mean at “Honky Tonk
Women”. You’ve got some real nice chops going on, well done that man &
thank you.

James Deacon says:

Why don’t you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make
that a little louder? ……. These go to eleven.

Dess Dermondy says:

Hay privettricker,” when your the best at what you do, they come after
you.” Ive learned alot on your channel

privettricker says:

@massif20022000 To be honest, I’ve been listening to Led Zeppelin since the
days when the band was still active. And Page uses plenty of vibrato. It’s
a shame you can’t hear it, because I actually like Jimmy’s vibrato. But
even if you can’t hear it, watch some Zeppelin video and you can see it.
Just off the top of my head, watch Since I’ve Been Loving You in the Song
Remains the Same film. Plenty of vibrato to be seen there, e.g., in the
intro. There’s vibrato all over that movie.

612Matthew says:

Very well done.

massif20022000 says:

@privettricker That’s right. Incredible as it sounds. Just carefully listen
to Led Zep songs and where you would think there would normally be vibrato,
there isn’t. Take Black Dog for example, the riff you show here, listen to
the song on the album, there is no vibrato. He is fast and brilliant but he
doesn’t seem to be fond of using vibrato, mind you, it hasn’t hurt him any.
Really, listen to Led Zep songs and listen for vibrato and damn if I can
find any. Cheers mate, keep up the great work!

privettricker says:

No, no pedal.

privettricker says:

They were tuned down at the ’07 gig.

Shoes says:

It may just recording distortion but from what I’ve heard on the record
version it sounds like it might be tuned to 440-flat (what most people call
Eb tuning).

Reno7721 says:

Thanks for your awesome videos..You’ve inspired me to play again. What
pickups are you using in your Gibsons playing Zep & Aerosmith?

Marisol Soplana says:

you dont like this video, theres like 100000000000000 million videos titled
the same way. Go look for them. By the way, if you need to have black dog
played…well

chest002 says:

Great lesson.

BookofIsaiah says:

Another great lesson!!

PAULB7743 says:

Are you using any pedal , and if so which one ?

privettricker says:

@massif20022000 Wait — what? Do you mean vibrato? Jimmy doesn’t use finger
vibrato?

antvic123 says:

Could you please explain the settings on the amp, string gauge and pick…?
Thank you, Sir!
