An acoustic guitar lesson on how to play “Ramble On”, by Led Zeppelin. For such a mellow tune, this one is actually pretty hard to play well and takes a lot of energy. It’s one of my favorite Zeppelin songs. Once you learn how to play this you’re gonna want to play it everyday! It’s a great example of Jimmy Page’s offbeat and unique guitar style. Especially those “jazz” chords he plays in the pre-chorus! Great song, great guitar player, great band. I hope you get something out of the lesson.

The guitar I’m playing here is a Taylor 214ce koa deluxe. I really like this guitar, it intonates amazingly well and it’s tone is very balanced. It’s also very easy to play.
The strings are Elixir phosphor bronze 12-53 with nanoweb coating. These strings are a little bit more expensive, but for me they easily last 4-5 times longer than non coated strings.

Folks may be surprised at how much time and effort goes into creating these videos. If you’re getting something out of the lessons and can afford to contribute to the cause, I’ve setup a Paypal link. If you can’t afford it no worries, but if you can, any amount is appreciated and will help me to continue to make the videos.

Charlie Mopps says:

Best tutorials on the net for sure. The only thing I’d add if I were you is
maybe some chord charts. Especially for this song, it’s hard to pick out
when you’re hitting sometimes.

Joe Nguyen says:

Do a Going To California tutorial please!!!

Adrian Trott says:

to add more songs. You Rock!

Electroelectro says:

Great, great lesson! You guys really can’t complain. This the most
comprehensible, complete and cool lesson for this song. If you struggle
with sus chords, 7ths and so, press pause and get them down first, cause
once you get the ball rolling it’s challenging but not impossible. It’s not
a beginners song anyway

Sara Baack says:

Just awesome!

Michael Strauch says:

learning process but learning music through our ears is a must that I come

That was incredible and your guitar sounds great. How long have you been
playing? Great video

Jesse Kieffer says:

If you’re having trouble with that EMajor7 chord I just put my index on the
2nd fret A string and pinkie/ring finger on the 4th fret B and E string
while muting the D and G strings and it sounds fine! I did that cause I
can’t stretch my hand out like that.

NJCustardPie says:

This is a nice tutorial. I have several transcriptions from Alfred and IMP
and both transcribe the pre-chorus as E F#m7 (G#m7 or D/E), but it does
appear to be a first inversion A and B, so kudos for noticing. I’d love to
hear the separated tracks that you mentioned if they are from the original
recording. It’s a nice song and worth playing correctly.

James The says:

This has renewed my desire to pick up my guitar often. Very good tutorial!
And very good playing. Thank you from Iowa. Great tune!

Huy Tran says:

Just discovered your channel and loving all the lessons. I’m looking to

someone on a budget? Thanks in advance and keep up the great tutorials.

Ray Palmer says:

What you called a e 9th sus is in fact a Em9

Great lesson. Your attention to detail takes a good cover and makes it a
great cover. Looking forward to seeing what else you have out there. Not
it’s time to RAMBLE ON…

John S says:

Dug it much. Nice bone tone. I probably would have rolled off that treble
knob on the guitar a bit and left in some bass….but I am listening on my
laptop. I play a 414 ce, that one looks like mahogany on the video.
Thanks for doing the research.

CaribSurfKing1 says:
