Is not the best Page guitar solo.
Dazed and Confused is better.

TruthSurge says:

Not enough gain, action a bit too high, nothing really worked out in
advance and it almost (at times) sounds like one of those fake guitar vids
they overdub a bad solo on to MAKE it sound bad. The tone is thin and in
that split pickup position it sound like he might have it wired out of
phase to make it even thinner. He was a great composer for rock tunes.
His riffs were classic and memorable. His solos… meh.

Rusty Shackleford says:

Sounds fucking horrible. It just seems assholes can’t stand any sort of
criticism of their beloved celebrity idol guitarists. Fuck off. It’s a
horrible solo. It’s sounds like…you know when you walk into guitar
center…there that one guy thrashing away in the guitar section playing
that same old boring blues scale riff…fast picking…sounds like that
annoying garbage.

Michael Crutcher says:

I don’t know if I’d say this was his best solo, but Jimmy Page certainly
captured his audience…

Robert Paulson says:

People keep complaining about his tone and what they don’t understand is
that this recording is from 1975 and has suffered many frequency losses
from being recorded by now outdated equipment as well as the losses that
occur from converting from the original tapes to fucking youtube haha it’s
obvious why the tone is so thin. Plus, they didn’t put the same effort into
the recording equipment for the Earls Court performances as they did the
Madison Square Garden for TSRTS. The recording techniques they used for The
Seattle Kingdome in 1977 were even worse

mrdjscotty11 says:

I think its really funny when people criticize Jimmy Page because even if
what he is doing isn’t very hard or complex and other people might be able
to play it it doesn’t make them better than him or just as good you may be
able to play it but i would love to see these people try to create or make
anything even close to how brilliant and Awesome what he created is its
ridiculous to think that just because something isn’t wicked hard it cant
be brilliant. He is still one of the best guitar players to ever live and
just because a bunch of people who are just looking to start stuff and hate
on him say hes not good doesn’t change the fact that he is one of the
greatest.

NCMONGOL! says:

Wow I never knew there were so many people who could give jimmy page
lessons lol. U guys must of made a lot of money.fuckin morons

Stig Vanbrabant says:

anybody who knows what song the melody at 3:10 is from?

Alucard the Aichomancer says:

Why am I told this guy is so brilliant if he has the technicality of a
fruit fly? He doesn’t have huge amounts of feeling.

I think phrasing is what produces feeling, and Dragonforce is where it’s at.

Try and contradict me if you want but I’m not some tone deaf scum fuck who
listens to shitty pop, rap, and country. Instead I listen to subgenres of
metal, not classic rock. These queers are so jacked up on drugs that they
can’t even make up a complex solo in at least one song, meanwhile
Dragonforce trumps every classic rock solo every made with an intro.

Plus can’t these guys play any faster? IT’S SO BORING WITH NO LIFE! When I
hear Dragonforce, I hear something that I think “Wow, if I want to play
this I’ll actually have a challenge to figure it out since it’s complex and
technical enough for someone of my skill level!”

When I was listening to this solo in this video I thought, “Are you trying
to make music for fucking nuns and old ladies? This garbage is so easy my
dog can play it!”

Note: this is simply my personal preference/opinion as a musician.

Great studio guitarist. Sloppy live though. Have’nt seen 1 live performance
where he has’nt hot a bum note.

Bill Smith says:

Sloppy ass MOFU – BUT absolutely fun material – some most fun, imaginative
licks going – maybe that is what makes JP who he is even with the unclean
playing…

David Bergin says:

“Best” is a very bad word in music or any other art form. It’s enough to
say Jimmy was the perfect guitarist for Zeppelin and a vastly underrated
record producer.

John Pino says:

This is obviously a troll video. This is by no means Pages best..and the
only reason this has been created is for people to have a platform to talk
shit about him. If anyone judges him based on this video alone without
researching the tons truly out there (Since I’ve been loving you – from the
“how the west was won” concert for example) then they are a close minded
imbecile who doesnt want to chance finding out theyve been wrong about Page
or Zep the entire time.

He’s Jimmy Page for Christ’s sake. Anybody hating on him is being pretty
short sighted. By any measure, he is one of THE most influential guitar
players of my lifetime.
Who’s your favorite guitar player mister guitar expert?

kozuke1742 says:

one of my friends don’t stop to tell me to go to see jimi page and hendrix
because they are the best but sorry for me slash is still the best player i
love his song and even if i m wrong because jimi hendrix is apparently the
best

busbettis1 says:

His best solos usually came out of Heartbreaker, the ones in Japan early
seventies I thought were the best.

SickMetalAddict says:

Guys he’s highly rated cause at his time, he had no internet, and he wasn’t
educated in terms of theory or what not, he just came up with whatever he
left like coming up with, and by just doing that he wrote probably the best
solo in history, gotta give him credit for all of that for those of you who
say XY shredder can do better.

snowngeorgia says:

Paige was a technical showoff, Knopfler is an artist!!

aazz0099503 says:

Best solo? It was him fucking around on the guitar.

Shahenaz Maksoud says:

Not a troll, I’m a huge LZ fan but at this point 1974- he was only a good
session guitarist. Very sloppy in person. This is however probably due to
his lifestyle at the time as in celebration day in 2007 he was very good
live!

minfo2000 says:

“NO QUARTER” FRON THE FILM, 1973, WAS ALMOST MATCHED AT KNEBWORTH, THE
OTHER SHOW’S VERSION WAS HORRIBLE. THINK I MEAN THE FIRST SHOW, AROUND 79
OR 80. UNFORTUNATELY THEY TAPED THE WRONG SHOW.. CM

Don Bowdry says:

This is why I prefer Fenders. That tone is just wrong on so many levels.

Rick Milam says:

Lots of slop. He could play great. And not. In this case I just see
enormous amounts of self indulgence.

Ken Beecher says:

Jimmy did his last “great” solo during the 73 Tour. By 75 and beyond, he
was wasted and tired of playing same songs…like this…over and over.

Erkkimies says:

this is what a beginner guitarist sounds like when trying to do a super
fast solo ;)

joe myers says:

Nicolas V. says:

We love Zep – but the disconnects sound… better than any one else!!!
