It is the springtime of my loving – the second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing – so little warmth I’ve felt before.
It isn’t hard to feel me glowing – I watched the fire that grew so low.

It is the summer of my smiles – flee from me Keepers of the Gloom.
Speak to me only with your eyes. It is to you I give this tune.
Ain’t so hard to recognize – These things are clear to all from
time to time.

Talk Talk – I’ve felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought YOU would ever go. I cursed the gloom that set upon us…
But I know that I love you so

These are the seasons of emotion and like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion – I seek the torch we all must hold.
This is the mystery of the quotient – Upon us all a little rain must fall…It’s just a little rain…

“The Rain Song” is a love ballad of over 7 minutes in length. Guitarist Jimmy Page originally constructed the melody of this song at his home in Plumpton, England, where he had recently installed a studio console. A new Vista model, it was partly made up from the Pye Mobile Studio which had been used to record the group’s 1970 Royal Albert Hall performance and The Who’s Live at Leeds album.[1]

Page was able to bring in a completed arrangement of the melody, for which singer Robert Plant composed some lyrics. These lyrics are considered by Plant himself to be his best overall vocal performance.[2] The song also features a mellotron played by John Paul Jones to add to the orchestral effect, whilst Page played a Danelectro guitar.[1] John Paul Jones played the low end string part on a real cello, partly bowed and partly plucked. He had earlier played cello and did string arrangements for the Yardbirds with Jimmy Page on the album Little Games when he was a session musician.

George Harrison was reportedly the inspiration for “The Rain Song” when he made a comment to Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, about the fact that the group never wrote any ballads.[3][4] In tribute to Harrison, the opening two notes are recognisably borrowed from his ballad “Something.”[3]

The working title for this track was “Slush,” a reference to its easy listening mock orchestral arrangement.[1]

LED zeppelin never seemed like they derived from the late 60s and early 70s
yet they did. They always gave off a other worldly sense or vive about
them. They never sounded like they ever belonged too any time period
partically. Its as if time doesnt exist or pertain too them. If they are
not from another world or are not gods. Then they surely show a great
abundis of god like power and un earthly presense about them especialy in
there image and more so in there music. A band like no other! The
fasination with this band is there musical lore and sense of myth and
mystery. Where they became a legend pouring endless phrases of literature
and culture from there fingertips. Bound and tide too the act of musical
creation itself giving it a relm of divine emmortality. Led Zeppelin the
most guarded and unexplained musical mystery and secret of the world. Gods
of music they must be and a legend in the soul of the world and the known
universe. A band like no other !

All that is now says:

my touchstone. no matter how old i get, brings me back to sitting in my
room, in front of my cheap record player, memorizing every pop and hiss.
funny that my mind automatically plays them in any recording I listen to, I
am that kid again. in fact, if I close my eyes, I can hear my mother
telling me to turn that shit down, Jinny Marie.

only good music has the ability to do this.
of this I cannot be more sure.

ralphyboy25 says:

Always liked that build-up from 4:55 to 5:47 – starting with subtle strings
to emotive blast.

“Talk Talk, Talk, Talk, Hey, – I’ve felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go-oohh-ooohhh.”

Note: Uploader has changed the lyrics from “it” to “YOU”, in his post.

How in the wide world of sports can 673 people dislike this song? I mean,
are they human?

FRIDAY NIGHT SESSIONS says:

*Deep Cuts: (Mostly) Led Zeppelin*
This was written after George Harrison, who is a huge fan, told Zep drummer
John Bonham that the trouble with Led Zeppelin is that they “don’t do any
ballads”. Bonham brought in the idea, and the rest of the band worked with
him to put it together, and it is was one of the few Zeppelin songs where
all four members shared the composer credit.

Robert has called this song about unchanging love his greatest vocal
performance.

For +Di S. I think she kinda’ likes this one 😉

this song and think about high school :’)

It’s amazing to think to most people Led Zeppelin were a heavy rock band .
This shows them in a much more sophisticated light.

This song is sophisticated, mystical and transports me
