THE BACK STORY
When my agent sent me on an audition for a part in a Robert Plant video, my
first reaction was, “Who?” And, when I told my friends and family that I’d
gotten the job, half of them had the same reaction and the other half acted
like I’d just won an Academy Award. Clearly, I shone brightly in their eyes
with reflected glory!
My part of the video was filmed in a seedy bar not far from the Las Vegas
strip. As the film crew set up their equipment, the owner called her
teenage daughter to tell her that Robert Plant had just arrived and to
hurry down to the bar. When the daughter arrived, she was so star struck,
she couldn’t utter a word. Robert sat with her at the bar for quite some
time quietly talking to her; gently drawing her out until she felt relaxed
enough to smile.
I may not have heard of him before, but I became a huge fan that day
because of how he treated that little girl. His graciousness and caring
spoke volumes about who Robert Plant really is.
