This song makes me proud to be an Englishman. Thank you Led Zep.
The musical performance here is absolutely amazing. Possibly the best part
of the album/film. However, the visuals are horrendous and probably the
most ridiculous and pretentious Zeppelin ever got.
The whole “fantasy sequence” is a bit daft in general but Page and Jones’,
as pompous as they were, weren’t outright silly like this. Robert Plant,
the crooning quay standing onstage in fag pants with an exposed midriff and
being as absolutely faggotty as humanly possible, is portraying himself as
a knight who roughs it in the wilderness, rides horses and kicks asses in
sword fights. Jesus Christ that is awful.

I’ve heard the first two chords are reference to ‘something’ by The Beatles
after a conversation between Page and Harrison, Harrison mentioning that
Zep had no ballads. Anyone else heard this story?

this is the best version of this song, in my opinion. I like the key they
use, better than the studio version. And Robert’s performance is
incredible. Very emotional. Tears me up every time
