If you look search for: Led Zeppelin No Quarter Live 1973 best audio mix II, you’ll see the images of 1973 TSRTS version that’s a much better version. http://youtu.be/lC4kVMaKUJY

The audio is the same, but the images are better

This is No Quarter live TSRTS Led Zeppelin.

This is a special audio mix, for me the best version.

It’s starts with the movie. The last part of Robert’s singing is different – see ‘The Garden Tapes’ website.

Then from the piano part to the complete solo of Jimmy, this is from the cd 1976

Then again back to the movie.

I took the movie tapes from the video TSRTS: in this mix you can hear the singing of Robert better.

So this is for me the best mix.

What you see are images of No Quarter 5-24-1975, TSRTS 1973

Hope you like it

Rainson Zeppelin says:

Hello Dario,

I made a mix of ‘The Song Remains the Same’ versions: A took the old video
movie version, that’s where it starts, then after the singing part, I
switch to the CD version of 1976, then back after the solo, to the movie
version.

In the movie and even more in the video version the mix is better, the
singing of Robert sounds louder. And of course in the Cd version we have
the complete solo.

A hope one day Jimmy will release the complete song without the images of
John Paul Jones, so we all can see how Jimmy plays this solo. A lot of
the solo is improvisation, if you compare the solo, to the other concerts
he played in 1973.

It’s one of his best !

Amazing track with jimmy at his best. What i dont understand is the Edit
made to jimmys solo on the current dvd edition . The phrasing on the
complete solo is excellent from start to finish but the edited version is
like starting a book from chapter 3. Anyhoo thats my tuppence worth .

Snicker Doodle says:

Traditionally, to give no quarter means to give no mercy.

In the fourteenth century, quarter added to its basic meaning of the fourth
part of something by taking on a sense of one of the four principal
divisions of the horizon or the points of the compass. It then seems to
have transferred to one of the four quarters of a city, in particular one
occupied by a specific group (as we might still today speak of “the French
quarter”), not literally meaning one fourth of the area, but a rough
direction based on the four main compass points. The same meaning was
applied to one section of an army camp. So quarter came to have attached to
it the idea of an area in which one lived, and further shifts of meaning
seem to have taken place that lead to quarters (in the plural) for one’s
living accommodation, especially in military contexts.

There seem to have been one or two further stages. By the 1590s an idiom to
keep good quarters with had grown up, meaning to have good relations with a
person, presumably a reference to the need to stay on good terms with those
living with or around you — Shakespeare used it in The Comedy of Errors in
1590 in a way that showed he was having fun with an expression already well
known. So to give no quarter might have meant “don’t show any friendliness
to the enemy”. It’s possible also that to give quarters could refer to the
need to provide prisoners with a place to stay, so that to give no quarter
was a figurative way of saying “take no prisoners”.

The song is a tribute to soldiers who do what must be done (suffer cold,
and give and find no mercy) to build a dream for me and you.

The lyrics:
Close the door, put out the light.
No, they wont be home tonight.
The snow falls hard and dont you know?
The winds of thor are blowing cold.
Theyre wearing steel thats bright and true
They carry news that must get through, oooh
They choose the path where no-one goes.
They hold no quarter, they hold no quarter.
Walking side by side with death
The devil mocks their every step
The snow drives back the foot thats slow
The dogs of doom are howling more
They carry news that must get through
To build a dream for me and you
They choose the path where no-one goes.
They hold no quarter, they ask no quarter.
The pain, the pain without quarter.
They ask no quarter.
Yeah! without quarter, quarter, yeah!
The dogs of doom are howling more!
I hear the dogs of doom are howling more!

lens2optic says:

The srts was originally reviewed as being overlong , bloated and self
indulgent . However , the passage of time has shown it to be one of the
best live recordings ever made in all music . The album confirms jimmy as a
true great .
